Retailers have a real role to play within Mercialys’ CSR strategy. In this way, the Company promotes the sustainable innovation initiatives adopted by retailers and looks to build close relationships with them.
In January 2016, Mercialys invited, in partnership with Club Génération Responsable, the retailers present in its centers to work together on improving the way that CSR is taken into account in the shopping centers. Three initiatives were investigated in particular: energy, waste and transport. This annual meeting offers an opportunity for retailers and lessors to work together to see how to combine their efforts with a focus on continuous improvements. In 2017, this event notably made it possible to understand retailers’ expectations in terms of sorting waste and mobility services with a view to carrying out tests with them in 2018.
Mercialys welcomes new forms of consumption in its centers, particularly with stakeholders from the social and sharing economy. It encourages more sustainable, solidarity-focused consumption by promoting local production, particularly by welcoming small-scale producers on temporary locations.
